The device has a detection unit for detecting operating and/or processing parameters of a harvester, where the detection unit comprises a swath sensor unit (6) for detection of geometry and/or density of swath. A control unit (9) provides a control signal based on both the detected geometry and/or the density of the swath and the detected load condition of the harvester that affect operating parameters of the harvester.
