PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum degassing apparatus whose conduit is made of dense refractory bricks, wherein the leakage of molten glass from the conduit is prevented, to thereby extend the duration of the apparatus. SOLUTION: In the vacuum degassing apparatus, a vacuum degassing tank, at least a part of a riser tube and at least a part of a downcomer each has an inner surface brick layer, at least one back-up brick layer formed behind the inner surface brick layer and a ramming material layer. The inner surface brick layer composes the conduit that directly comes into contact with the molten glass and is formed by piling up the dense refractory bricks, the back-up brick layer is formed by piling up the refractory bricks, and the ramming material layer is formed by filling a ramming material into a gap between the inner surface brick layer and the back-up brick layer.
