PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for concentrating a chlorinated aromatic compound, being excellent from a viewpoint of energy saving. SOLUTION: The method for producing the chlorinated aromatic compound comprises a chlorination step for obtaining the chlorinated aromatic compound and hydrogen chloride by reacting an aromatic compound with chlorine, a chlorinated aromatic compound-concentrating step for obtaining the chlorinated aromatic compound and an unreacted aromatic compound by distilling a mixture of the chlorinated aromatic compound obtained in the chlorination step with the unreacted aromatic compound and separating and recovering a part of the unreacted aromatic compound. In the production method, the aromatic compound is vaporized by reaction heat generated in the chlorination step and heat of vapor of the aromatic compound obtained by the vaporization is used as a heat source for the chlorinated aromatic compound-concentrating step.
