PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary air supply device for a gas turbine engine materializing effective cooling of secondary air without increasing axial load of a bearing supporting an outer shaft. SOLUTION: Although an impeller wheel 9 is energized forward by pressure of high pressure turning air in an impeller back surface chamber 44, the high pressure turning air does not stagnate in the impeller back surface chamber 44 since the high pressure turning air flows out from a turning air cooling turbine 59 positioned in an innermost diameter side of the impeller back surface chamber 44. Consequently, average pressure in the impeller back surface chamber 44 gets low and forward energizing force (axial load) acting on an impeller wheel 9 (namely an outer shaft 7) gets relatively small. High pressure air in a high pressure air chamber 43 is introduced in an intermediate chamber 45. Consequently, rearward axial load acts on a rotor 51 (namely the outer shaft 7) by pressure of introduced high pressure air in the intermediate chamber 45. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
