<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recording density in a running direction of an optical tape and to enhance stability of tracking in an optical tape recording and playback apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The optical tape recording and playback apparatus is provided with a light source emitting a data writing beam WB and a tracking beam TB for adjusting a position of the optical tape irradiated with the writing beam, a beam irradiation controlling part irradiating a recording surface of the optical tape with the beam WB and the beam TB while the beams keep a fixed distance in the tape running direction and irradiating a recorded track in which data are already recorded in the optical tape with the beam TB, a beam detecting part detecting a reflected beam of the beam TB with which the optical tape is irradiated, and a recording controlling part adjusting positions of the optical tape irradiated with the both beams based on the reflected beam detected by the beam detecting part and irradiating an unrecorded region of the optical tape with the writing beam WB in the state that the beam TB follows the recorded track. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
