摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of carrier movement from the developing sleeve to the photoreceptor on discharging a waste developer in an image forming apparatus equipped with a developing unit to develop an image using a two-component developer.

SOLUTION: When a developer in a developing tank is discharged, the potential difference between a photoreceptor potential as the surface potential on a counter face of a photoreceptor drum opposing to a developing sleeve and a development bias potential as the surface potential of a counter face on the developing sleeve opposing to the photoreceptor drum is specified to be lower than the potential difference between both the potentials during forming an image.
