<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein a simple sensor as a pattern detecting means is used, and the position of a pattern is accurately detected without repeatedly forming the pattern. <P>SOLUTION: First, a cleaning roller 105 is separated from a paper transporting belt 6 (A), the drive of the paper transporting belt 6 starts, and a registration mark RM is formed on the surface of the belt. The registration mark RM is read by the detection sensor 111 (B), and the belt 6 passes through the counter face of the cleaning roller 105 (C). But, the toner T constituting the registration mark RM is not removed from the belt 6, because the cleaning roller 105 is separated from the belt 6. The registration mark RM is not reversely transferred to the photoreceptor drum 3 (D), and the belt is continuously rotated, and then, the mark is read again by the detection sensor 111 (E). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
