PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al-Cu-Bi-Sn alloy excellent in strength and machinability which has strength equal to that of the conventional A2011 alloy and in which, with respect to machinability, chips can be finely broken at machining as in the case of the A2011 alloy and no quenching crack is formed at quenching and also to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The alloy has a composition consisting of 3.0 to 6.0% Cu, >1 to 3.0% Bi, 0.05 to 0.8% Sn, 0.04 to 0.4% Si, 0.04 to 0.7% Fe and the balance Al with inevitable impurities.
