PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of improving printing accuracy by a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprising an inkjet type printing mechanism equipped with a printing head for printing a plurality of lines by one movement in the main scanning direction, is provided with a carrying belt mechanism for carrying a paper in the sub-scanning direction. After a plurality of the lines are printed by using the printing head, a point mark for starting the printing expressing a printing starting position for the next plurality of the lines in the same main scanning is recorded on the carrying belt mechanism, and based on this point mark for starting the printing, the printing starting position for the next plurality of the lines of the printing head is positioned.
