To reduce the risk of hematoma formation, apparatus and methods for reducing bleeding from a cannulation site are provided. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a plug (704) that applies pressure to the cannulation site. The apparatus can further comprise a hemostatic agent. The hemostatic agent is flowable through a lumen of the plug to be deployed at the cannulation site.
