<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which is bright in its reflective display and is excellent in contrast in its transmissive display, and also to provide a substrate for the liquid crystal device, and an electronic appliance equipped with the liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: Because a width a of a first light shielding film 14a arranged between transmissive regions 12 of mutually adjacent subpixels 11 is larger than a width b of a second light shielding film 14b arranged between reflective regions 13 of mutually adjacent subpixels 11, color mixing is prevented and the contrast is improved by certainly separating the transmissive regions 12 of the mutually adjacent subpixels 11 from each other, with the first light shielding film 14a having the large width, and at the same time, the reflective display is made bright by suppressing reduction of reflected light, with the second light shielding film 14b having the small width in the reflective region 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
