<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cold flow characteristics of a middle distillate fuel mixed with a vegetable fuel, a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis fuel or a hydrogenated vegetable fuel. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel oil composition comprises a fuel oil in a major amount and an additive. The additive comprises at least one ethylene polymer which, in addition to units derived from ethylene, comprises units of formula (I) and, optionally, units of formula (II) wherein each R<SP>1</SP>group and each R<SP>2</SP>group independently represents hydrogen or methyl, each R<SP>3</SP>group independently represents an alkyl group having 5 or more carbon atoms, and each R<SP>4</SP>group independently represents a 1-4C alkyl group, and wherein the proportion of units of formula (I) in the or each ethylene polymer is 13-20 mol.%, and the total proportion of units of formula (I) and of formula (II) in the or each ethylene polymer is 13-25 mol.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
