PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a multi-step setting in a potentiometer. SOLUTION: A potentiometric voltage for the moving quantity of a tab of the potentiometer is measured for each good. Then, by using the dispersion (T1) of the moving quantity by backlash of components which constitute the potentiometer etc., and the dispersion (T2) of the resistance values of resistors used in the potentiometer, the dispersion T3 of the potentiometric voltage Pt, corresponding to each step is found.
