The hot water supplier has an evaporator (17) which requires defrosting. During defrosting, at least one of the control operations to increase the degree of opening of the pressure reducer (16) and a control operation to reduce the revs of the compressor (14) are conducted in such a way that the coolant temperature at the output of the compressor is not higher than a preset temperature, to prevent boiling of the hot water in the heat exchanger (15).
