STENT REMOVAL AND REPOSITIONING AID AND ASSOCIATED METHOD

A removable stent (10) for placement within a portion of the anatomy of a patient is provided. The stent (10) includes a scaffolding having struts (12,14) that is configured to define a substantially cylindrical member having a proximal end and a distal end. The stent also includes a suture (16) intertwined about at least a portion of the struts, wherein the suture (16) includes at least one loop (18) such that a force applied to the loop (18) does not result in purse-stringing. Additionally a second suture (16) may pass circumferentally through the loops (18). Applying a force on the second suture (16) causes the stent (10) to reduce in diameter.
