<p>Disclosed is an external electrode fluorescent lamp comprising a glass tube (1) whose inside is hermetically sealed and external electrodes (4, 5) so formed as to cover the end portions of the glass tube (1). The glass tube (1) has a thick portion (1A, 1B), which is thicker than the rest of the glass tube, in at least a part of respective end portions covered by the external electrodes (4, 5). Consequently, generation of pinholes can be prevented, thereby improving the reliability of the external electrode fluorescent lamp.</p> |
