<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of ensuring image formation free from image quality defects such as nonuniform density, by connecting an image carrier to its drive shaft so that their rotation center lines adequately coincide with each other without making the replacement of the image carrier complex and without causing backlash, thereby enhancing the rotation accuracy of the image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: The drive shaft and the image carrier of the image forming apparatus are connected by a pair of separate plug connectors. One of the pair of the plug connector includes a plug shaft that has a tapering face section inclining towards the rotation center lines of the drive shaft and image carrier, and a cylindrical peripheral section parallel to the rotation center line. The other one of the pair of the plug connectors has at least a plug shaft bearing hole. Either the drive shaft or the image carrier is supported so as to be displaceable along the rotation center lines.
