<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure capable of enhancing the outer periphery strength of a laminate and preventing a liquid material to be impregnated from being held to the outer periphery of the laminate in the case of impregnation, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: A water-resistant or water repelling outer peripheral sheet is wound around the outer periphery of the honeycomb structure, which is obtained by laminating a planar flat sheet 2 and a single-faced corrugated molded sheet 11, which is formed by bonding a corrugated processed sheet to the ridge line parts 10 of a corrugated sheet 5, to be impregnated with a dispersion of a functional material. After the impregnated outer peripheral sheet is dried, it is peeled and the part, where a film 13 or the like is peeled, of the honeycomb structure is coated with a dispersion of an inorganic mineral and an inorganic binder while the coated honeycomb structure is dried or baked to obtain a honeycomb filter which has no functional material bonded to its outer peripheral part and is reduced in material loss and of which the outer periphery can be cured without using outer periphery curing paper. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
