<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing case type IC card reader/writer in which dust or foreign matter is hardly stuck to a contact terminal, and sliding wear between the contact terminal of an IC card and the contact terminal of a reader/writer is eliminated. <P>SOLUTION: In this case type IC card reader/writer 1 being a reader/writer of a contact type IC card 2, a housing case part 11 having the size of a rectangular IC card, in which the IC card 2 is housed, and a case body 12 having a contact terminal 13 in contact with a contract terminal 21 of the IC card 2 are connected to each other to be openable/closeable along one side edge of the housing case body 11. When the IC card 2 is housed in the housing case part and the cover body 12 is closed, the contact terminal of the IC card is made in contact with the contact terminal 13 of the cover body.
