COLORING MATTER FOR OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coloring matter for forming a recording layer of an optical recording medium which is excellent in solubility in a coating solvent and film forming properties and free from the possibility that a recording signal disappears due to the reaction of the coloring matter of the recording layer to a reproduction laser light (650 nm) in the case when the optical recording medium using the coloring matter for the recording layer is inserted into a DVD drive or the like, for instance, and which can respond to a blue laser light as well.

SOLUTION: The coloring matter for forming the recording layer of the optical recording medium is expressed by general formula [1]. In this formula [1], Ar denotes an aromatic ring that may also have a substituent, R1and R2denote each a hydrogen atom or a 30 or less C organic group independently, R3and R4denote each a 30 or less C organic group independently, and X1-X3denote atoms that can take a valence of -2 or less.
