<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller, the usability of use of which is improved and for simplifying the operations of various apparatuses for carrying out menu display, such as a television receiver. <P>SOLUTION: The remote controller 100 is provided with a touch panel 103 and a button 101; and when the touch panel 103 is slid clockwise or counter clockwise while a user touches an upper half region of the touch panel 103 by a finger, a control signal for selecting a channel corresponding to this operation is transmitted by an infrared ray.
