PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array controller that sets the most suitable transmission function for every HDD. SOLUTION: A transmission optimization parameter table 31a shows the relationship among HDD position information 11a, HDD identification information 12a, and a data transmission parameter 31b. An information input means 311 inputs the HDD position information 11a and the HDD identification information 12a from an HDD position information storage part 11 and an HDD identification information storage part 12, respectively. A parameter determining means 312 determines a data transmission parameter 31b by collating with the parameter table 31a the HDD position information 11a and the HDD identification information 12a inputted from the information input means 311. A parameter output means 313 outputs the data transmission parameter 31b determined by the parameter determining means 312 to an HDD transmission function setting part 13 via a communication LSI-I/O part 33 and an HDD-I/O part 14 and to a communication LSI transmission function setting part 32.
