SPINNING TOP

A spinning top is described, comprising: a body having a base and being adapted to spin on the base about a rotational axis; and at least one magnet attached to the body. In preferred embodiments there are a plurality of magnets evenly distributed around the rotational axis. Each magnet may be arranged so as to provide a magnetic field radially outside the perimeter of the body when the top is spinning. The magnets may, for example, be cylindrical bar magnets. The body may be provided with interconnection means such that the top may be removably attached to a second top having a substantially identical body to form a composite spinning top adapted to spin about the rotational axis.
