Motor vehicle seat has a covering (7), which possesses a tongue formed by a U-shaped recess (8) in the area in front of the entrance opening, whose lower end is firmly connected with a slide valve (11) arranged behind the tongue. Tongue is vertically adjustable in a guidance (12) fixed on the backside of the covering, and whose upper end is guided outwards through a slot (21).
