<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a stack fault, or the like in a position sensor reliably, and to control the fault detection accurately. <P>SOLUTION: The absolute value of the difference between the sum of the sensor voltage values of first and second ICs 4a, 4b comprising a Hall IC and the sum of the sensor voltage values of the first and second ICs 4a, 4b when they are normal is compared with a prescribed value set based on the width between adjacent ranges for determination. When the absolute value of the difference becomes larger than the prescribed value, the faults of the first and second ICs 4a, 4b are detected, thus detecting the stack faults, or the like of the first and second ICs 4a, 4b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
