<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the transmitting/receiving device having a polar modulator, whose predistortion can be adjusted with less circuit complexity than the conventional approaches. <P>SOLUTION: The transmitting/receiving device has the polar modulator, a reception path (25) and a coupling path. The polar modulator has a variable predistorter (11, 12) and an amplifier (8) which can be modulated. The reception path (25) can be operated for a conventional reception and for the purposes of adjustment of the predistorter (11, 12) in order to determine a measurement signal (35) which is dependent on the output signal of the amplifier (8). The coupling path is for coupling the reception path (25) to the output of the amplifier (8).
