<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic porous body capable of efficiently collecting PM (particulate matter) containing ultrafine particles while controlling pressure loss so as not to lower fuel economy, and to provide a ceramic filter composed of the ceramic porous body. <P>SOLUTION: This ceramic porous body is characterized in that acicular crystals are formed in a part of the inner wall surface of a pore part formed in partition walls of the ceramic porous body composed of a sintered body; that the part of the inner wall surface is in a state not machined, so-called as-fired surface, and acicular crystals basically the same component as the base material are formed on the as-fired surface; and that the diameter of the pore part is≥50μm, and the length of the acicular crystals formed inside the pore part falls within the range of 5-30μm.
