PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the operation of previously storing the target horizontal moving distance information and the target elevating moving distance information while reducing the memory capacity of a control means mounted in a transfer equipment as much as possible. SOLUTION: In this article conveying apparatus, of the target horizontal moving distance information from the reference horizontal position about a mover and the target elevating moving distance information from the reference elevating position about an elevator show a plurality of target stop positions, a the storage means 41 for storing at least the target horizontal moving distance information is provided outside the transfer equipment 4 to freely communicate with a control means. The control means mounted in the transfer equipment 4 obtains both the target horizontal moving distance information and the target elevating moving distance information showing the plurality of target stop positions from the storage means, or obtains the target horizontal moving distance information from the storage means, and controls the horizontal movement of the mover and the elevating movement of the elevator to selectively locate the elevator in one of the plurality of target stop positions according to the the target horizontal moving distance information and the target elevating moving distance information obtained by previously storing and retaining the target elevating moving distance information.
