PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elongation diagnosing device for a chain, accurately diagnosing the elongation of a chain for driving a movable handrail, surely performing preventive maintenance, and shortening the maintenance time. SOLUTION: This elongation diagnosing device for a chain includes: a multi-beam sensor 7 for detecting the vertical deflection width of the chain 6 for driving the movable handrail; and an indicator 9 for indicating the vertical deflection width of the chain 6 for driving the movable handrail detected by the multi-beam sensor 7. The multi-beam sensor 7 is composed of a multi-beam projecting part and a multi-beam receiving part which are disposed with the chain 6 for driving the movable handrail interposed between them.
