PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To match discharge timing by uniformalizing discharge starting voltage of each color cell, by differentiating ladder electrode structures in a PDP for R-cells, G-cells and B-cells. SOLUTION: A discharge space is formed between both substrates by arranging one substrate opposed to the other, and R-cells, G-cells, and B-cells are arrayed in a matrix in the discharge space. A pair of discharge electrodes are arranged for every R-cells, G-cells, and B-cells with a certain plane discharge gap on one of the substrates, with row electrodes feeding power to those discharge electrodes arrayed for each row of the matrix, and column electrodes are arrayed for each column on the other substrate with barrier ribs in a column direction arrayed between the column electrodes. Lengths of the discharge electrodes in the row direction are adjusted in accordance with discharge timing of each cell for every R-cells, G-cells and B-cells. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
