PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the vertical movement frequency of a knife by providing a movement control means controlling the movement of a driving source of a knife mechanism by adjusting it based on an increase adjustment value for increasing the vertical movement frequency. SOLUTION: This sewing machine is provided with, as shown in Figure 5, a needle vertical movement mechanism 40 vertically moving a sewing needle 41, a cloth feeding mechanism 20 carrying a workpiece, the knife mechanism 50 forming a cut line in the workpiece by vertically moving a movable knife 51 by a knife motor 57, and a movement control means 80 controlling the movement of the knife motor according to the vertical movement frequency R of the movable knife found by a feed speed of workpieces B and M of the cloth feeding mechanism and an effective cutting length by a single vertical movement of the movable knife.
