<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator or the like capable of reducing the spread of luminous flux and supplying light with high efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator has LEDs 101 and 102, and a polarized light separation part 108 separating light from the LEDs 101 and 102 by transmitting p-polarized light and reflecting s-polarized light. Furthermore, the LED 101 has a reflection part 103, and the polarized light separation part 108 composes the p-polarized light which is supplied from the LED 101 and directly made incident on the polarized light separation part 108 with the p-polarized light which is made incident on the polarized light separation part 108 after it is reflected by the reflection part 103 and makes the light advance toward a surface to be irradiated I. Then, the illuminator has rod integrators 111 and 112 making the intensity distribution of the luminous flux from the LEDs 101 and 102 nearly uniform and shaping the outside shape of the luminous flux to nearly similar shape to the surface to be irradiated I. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
