PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polymerizable liquid crystal compound satisfying characteristics required for an optically anisotropic material and having excellent durability for blue laser beams, to provide a liquid crystal composition comprising the compound and to provide the optically anisotropic material and an optical element using the liquid crystal composition. SOLUTION: The polymerizable liquid crystal compound is represented by formula (1) CH<SB>2</SB>=CR<SP>1</SP>-COO-E<SP>1</SP>-(E<SP>2</SP>)<SB>p</SB>-C≡C-E<SP>3</SP>-E<SP>4</SP>-(E<SP>5</SP>)<SB>q</SB>-R<SP>2</SP>(wherein, symbols in the formula represent each the following meaning; R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R<SP>2</SP>is a 1-8C alkyl group; E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP>, E<SP>3</SP>, E<SP>4</SP>and E<SP>5</SP>are each independently a 1,4-phenylene group or a trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group; and p and q are each 0 or 1). The polymerizable liquid crystal composition is a composition comprising the polymerizable liquid crystal compound and a polymerizable liquid crystal compound other than formula (1).
