PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake assist control method, and a brake assist control device capable of improving the determination accuracy of pre-crash control intervention to a driver's brake pedal depressing operation, and realizing adequate pre-crash brake assist (PCBA) to meet the intention (feeling) of the driver. SOLUTION: The timing before the predetermined effective time from the timing forming the reference time of the pre-crash control intervention in which the prediction time of the collision timing between a self vehicle and an obstacle is set is set to be the intervention permissive timing to receive the effective operation of the pre-crash control intervention. The brake pedal depressing operation generated after the intervention permissive timing is received as an effective operation (S2) while the brake pedal stepping-on operation generated before the intervention permissive timing is not received. Thus, the PCBA is intervened even to the brake pedal depressing operation immediately before the reference time while careless intervention of the PCBA is prohibited (S4).
