PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mat for growing turf or the like, which is structured so as to enable turf or the like to germinate and grow thickly in a short period of time while using crushed pieces of wood as a raw material, and to provide a method for producing the mat for growing turf or the like. SOLUTION: The mat for growing turf or the like is obtained by fixedly solidifying fumigated crushed pieces of wood, or mixture of the crushed pieces of wood and charcoal powder with an adhesive. The easy and efficient method for producing the mat for growing turf or the like comprises heating the fumigated crushed pieces of wood, or mixture of the crushed pieces of wood and charcoal powder, and a hot-melt type adhesive at 150-200°C for 1-2 h while bringing them into a pressurized state.
