<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact single photon generator for generating single photons with high quality, without making it necessary to install external light sources. <P>SOLUTION: A single-photon generator A, including a single-photon source (quantum dot) 14, and a semiconductor laser B, equipped with an active layer constituted of the same materials as those of the single-photon source 14, are formed so as to be integrated into a chip, in a status where they are isolated from each other on a compound semiconductor substrate 10, and the single-photon source 14 of the single-photon generating part A is irradiated with laser that is oscillated from the active layer of the semiconductor laser B in a self-aligned manner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
