PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a top face-rotating type piston generating a uniform air current in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The top face-rotating type piston 100A is divided into a piston body 2 and a top face rotation body 1A for rotating a partial surface of a top face of the piston. The top face rotation body 1A is engaged with the piston body 2 slidably in a circumferential direction through a piston connecting implement. The center part of the top face of the top face rotation body 1A is provided with more first protrusions 1a than the other part of the top face. When the top face rotation body 1A is rotated in such constitution, the uniform air current can be generated in the combustion chamber because few first protrusions 1a are formed around the outer periphery with high angular velocity and many first protrusions 1a are formed at the center part with low angular velocity.
