PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose an authentication device capable of reducing waiting time for registrants without impairing authentication accuracy. SOLUTION: The authentication device for determining an authentication target corresponding to registered registration pattern information based on pattern information of the authentication target is provided with: an imaging means for imaging the authentication target, an extraction means for extracting each pattern information from each of a plurality of images sequentially outputted from the imaging means, and a collating means for sequentially collating each pattern information extracted from the extraction means with the registration pattern information. The collating means stops collation processing when obtaining the collation result showing the authentication target corresponding to the registration pattern information.
