PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which thermal fixing is performed by a heating member and a pressurizing member, the image forming apparatus having such a constitution that a recording medium on which an image to be recorded can be peeled well after fixing and a peeling member is effectively prevented from interfering with the recording medium on which the image is to be recorded. SOLUTION: A laser printer 1 is provided with fixing unit 21 provided with a heating roller 49 and a pressurizing roller 50 forming a nip N by being pressurized by the heating roller 49 and applies thermal fixing of developer to paper by holding and transporting the paper between the heating roller 49 and the pressurizing roller 50. The fixing device 21 has a peeling pawl 100 provided to peel the paper from the heating roller 49 on a downstream side of the nip N in the paper transporting direction. Whereas, an interference preventing roller 110 is provided so that the paper does not interfere with the peeling pawl 100 after the paper is peeled from the heating roller 49 by the peeling pawl 100.
