PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a problem that the sensitivity of an electronic camera capable of automatically changing exposure sensitivity may be increased up to a value which is not intended by a photographer. SOLUTION: In an exposure mode (P mode and A mode) for determining a controlled shutter speed TVc by operation, the electronic camera calculates exposure by using an exposure value EV obtained from subject brightness BV and set imaging sensitivity SVs, and when a photographing sensitivity automatic-changing mode is set (YES in S210), calculates controlled imaging sensitivity SVc by changing the set imaging sensitivity SVs when suitable exposure is not obtained (S224). In this case, the controlled imaging sensitivity SVc is determined so that the range of the controlled shutter speed TVc is set to TV0 (sensitivity changing shutter speed)≤TVc≤12 (S217-S223). When the controlled imaging sensitivity SVc is not included in the range of SD (controlled lower limit sensitivity)≤SVc≤SU (controlled upper limit sensitivity), the controlled shutter speed TVc is changed to the range of -5≤TVc≤12 (Fig.9). The controlled lower limit sensitivity SD and the controlled upper limit sensitivity SU are constituted so as to be changed by setting processing from a custom setting operation member 106 (Fig.1, not shown).
