PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To electrically insulate a USB device from a host such as a PC by a small-scale circuit for lowering production cost for the USB device. SOLUTION: This USB device 1 and the like is provided with a USB controller 11, which provides a USB interface to the host and generates a data direction signal 8 identifying a data flow direction on a USB bus, and an insulation circuit 9 performing electrical insulation of the USB bus according to the data direction signal 8 generated by the USB controller 11. The USB controller 11 identifies the data flow direction on the USB bus to generate the data direction signal 8, and the insulation circuit 9 performs electrical insulation of the USB bus based on the data direction signal 8.
