PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for working a cover body which prevent slippage of the cover body to the utmost, enable simultaneous and precise working of all the end portions of the cover body including corner portions and also formation of dent portions for holding the heads of rivets in the surface of the cover body and enable efficient execution of a working process. SOLUTION: This apparatus 1 for working the cover body comprises a loading table 2 whereon the cover body is loaded, a press pin 10 which is provided at a position opposite to the top side of the loading table 2 and presses the top side of the cover body, an upper press heating platen 11 wherein a heater heating the press pin 10 is built, support arms 8 which are disposed along the peripheral edge of the loading table 2 and support the cover body, a working mold which comes into contact with the peripheral edge of the cover body, and a heater which is built in a support mold supporting the working mold and heats the working mold.
