PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize shortening of a warming up time and to make an image forming apparatus high speed at the same time. SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus fixes a toner image carried on paper P. The fixing apparatus is provided with a fixing belt 62 revolved in a state with a major axis set in the transporting direction of the paper P and a minor axis set in the direction orthogonal to the transporting direction of the paper P and a pressurizing roll 61 installed in a pressurized contact with a surface of the fixing belt 62 positioned in the direction of the minor axis of the fixing belt 62 and forming a nip part N through which the paper P is passed.
