Disclosed is an electrolyte solution containing a chain carbonate (I) represented by the formula (I) below and an electrolyte salt (II). [Chemical formula 1] (In the formula, Rf¹ represents a fluoroalkyl group having a unit represented by the following formula (Ia): [Chemical formula 2] (Ia) (wherein X¹ and X² may be the same as or different from each other and respectively represent H or F) at one end and containing 10-76% by mass of fluorine; and Rf² represents -CF₃ or a fluoroalkyl group having a unit represented by the above formula (Ia) at one end and containing 10-76% by mass of fluorine.) The electrolyte solution is excellent in flame retardance, low temperature characteristics and withstand voltage, while having high solubility of electrolyte salts and excellent compatibility with hydrocarbon solvents.
