In order to provide an initiator that is easy to manufacture and safe in the handling, and a gas generator provided with the initiator, a reaction agent (58) is stored in a casing (56) in an initiator (50). Pins (62, 64) are inserted into a hole (66) of a header (54), and are secured by glass or the like. Extremity surfaces of the pins (62, 64) are flush with the extremity surface of the header (54), and a plasma generating agent (72) is disposed on these surfaces. When a voltage is applied between the pins (62, 64), a high-temperature plasma is generated from the plasma generating agent (72), and the reaction agent (58) initiates a reaction. <IMAGE> |
