<p>The control electronics of, for example, a power tool such as a hand-held drill are cooled using air that emerges from cooling the electric motor of the drill. A power tool has an electric motor 26 and a rotating shaft 24 to which is connected a cooling fan 16. The fan draws air flow 28 across the motor to cool it. Once the air exits the motor, at least some of it is redirected by flow deflectors 17 to cool electronic control components 10. A heat sink 21 may also be provided. Although the air flow emerging from the motor is heated to some degree, it is still sufficient to cool electronic control 10.</p> |
