The invention relates to a flooring construction comprising flooring panels 4, heating means 6 disposed beneath the flooring panels 4 and a discontinuous layer 10 of acoustic insulating material disposed between the flooring panels 4 and the heating means 6. The insulation is preferably a closed cell foam material in strip form bonded to the underside of the flooring panels. Alternatively the insulation material may be a sheet having a series of spaces such as a lattice or grid.
