The method involves grounding inductive or ohmic resistance and providing an injection signal (Iinj) to a neutral point or to a null system of an electrical network. Frequency spectrum of the injection signal is between a selectable minimum frequency and a selectable maximum frequency. A functional connection of a zero current, the injection signal and a displacement voltage is determined. An independent claim is also included for a device of determining a parameter of an electrical mains power supply.
