A sensor for accepting a gaming chip representing a bet value for a bet on a gaming table is described. The sensor comprises a low profile body with a lower surface adapted to seat stably on a gaming table face, an upper surface defining an acceptance site on which a chip can be placed, detection means within the body below the acceptance site comprising at least an optical detector to detect the presence of a chip at the site and an electromagnetic detector to detect metal content in a chip at the site, a means for generating a signal registering the presence of a chip, and a means for passing the signal to a remote bet processor for recordal of the bet. The sensor is especially described as a low profile secondary sensor for use in conjunction with a through-table existing primary sensor. A method of fitment of such a sensor, and a method of its use in gaming, are also described. |
