Production of a shaped plastics article (I) having an inorganic coating involves coating a substrate with a lacquer comprising a silicon-based adhesion promoter and inorganic particles in a solvent; drying the lacquer; using at least one of the coated substrates to form a chamber, the coated sides lying on the interior of the chamber; filling the chamber with liquid radically polymerizable monomers; and carrying out polymerization in the chamber, such that the inorganic coating is transferred from the chamber onto (I). - Production of a shaped article (I) of plastics formed by radical polymerization, having an inorganic coating on one or more sides, involves: - (1) coating a substrate, using a blade, flooding or dipping, with a lacquer composition comprising a silicon-based adhesion promoter and inorganic particles in weight ratio 1-9:9-1 in a solvent, optionally together with additional processing auxiliaries; - (2) drying the lacquer; - (3) using at least one of the coated substrates to form a polymerization chamber, the coated sides lying on the interior of the chamber; - (4) filling the chamber with a polymerizable liquid comprising radically polymerizable monomers (optionally together with polymer components); - (5) carrying out radical polymerization in the chamber in presence of an initiator, such that the inorganic coating is transferred from the interior of the chamber onto (I); and - (6) removing (I) from the chamber. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for the shaped articles (I) obtained by the process. |
